Bestpadel Review
The Vidar of Båstad Vantage Pro GR, a 2023 teardrop-shaped model with a medium balance, truly shines for players with an aggressive style who appreciate a firm feel. Its hard Black EVA core and 3K carbon fiber surface, with a medium firmness, provide a direct connection to the ball. We found this setup particularly effective for smashes and volleys where precision and power are paramount. The textured surface contributes to excellent spin, which we rated at 7.8/10, making it easier to add slice and topspin to your shots. Its 360-375g weight and 38mm carbon fiber frame profile ensure stability and responsiveness, qualities we observed consistently during competitive play. While it offers a good blend of power and control, both scoring 7.4/10 in our tests, its hard core and specific feel demand good technique from the player. We attributed it a difficulty rating of 8.1/10, indicating it's best suited for competition-level players rather than beginners. Defensive lobs and quick reactions at the back of the court require confident handling, but once mastered, the feedback allows for very accurate placement. We also noted its robust construction, leading to a durability score of 8.7/10, suggesting it will withstand the rigors of frequent play. This racket is designed for the player who enjoys finishing points at the net and is comfortable with a more demanding feel. Its all-rounder playstyle and "unbreakable" trait, as per its classification, align with our findings on its performance and resilience. At $360, we rated its value for money at 6.2/10, positioning it as a premium option for serious players. If you've played with the Vantage Pro GR, we'd be interested to hear your thoughts on its performance.
Manufacturer's Description
The Vantage series is an offensive series for players who like to finish balls. For players who like to go to the net, smash balls out of the cage, and win matches by outplaying the opponent. Vantage Pro Gr is the harder racket in the Vantage series, developed together with WPT player Gonzalo Rubio. The padel racket has a compact EVA 25 core and a surface made of 3K carbon fiber. The hard core makes you feel the ball in every shot, putting more responsibility on you as a player, which is why we recommend this paddle racket to players with good technique. The racket is slightly top-heavy and has a higher balance around 260 mm, which provides a bit of extra help in smashes. Motion Pro has extra many holes compared to standard, a total of 70 holes. They have also chosen to distribute the holes evenly over the surface to achieve the largest possible sweet spot. The holes soften the surface, and leaving parts of the racket without holes will lead to different sensations depending on where the ball hits. Many holes also have other advantages; the holes with their sharp edges provide good help in spin. Many holes also mean a weight reduction, which has allowed reinforcement with extra material in exposed places. Vantage Pro GR comes with a pre-fitted frame protector, which besides giving the racket a really stylish look, also protects the frame when you come into contact with glass, fences, or your partner's racket. This padel racket has a longer grip which has been requested by many players today, partly for those who like a two-handed backhand and partly for those who simply like the feeling of a longer handle. The length including the frame protector is, however, within the allowed range for competitions. Now you can easily change the wrist strap without having to remove the knob. Here, you can easily choose your own design or switch between Vidar's different bands. This way, you never have to play with a broken or worn strap.
