The Varlion Maxima Junior 2023 is designed as an approachable option for young, beginner players, specifically targeting children aged 7-11. Its hybrid shape and medium balance contribute to an easy-to-manage feel on court, which we found beneficial for developing foundational strokes. The soft core and fiberglass surface materials offer a comfortable hitting experience, which is helpful for juniors still building strength and technique. In our testing, we observed its primary strength lies in its ease of use. We rate its difficulty at 4.3/10, making it quite forgiving. For control, we attributed it a score of 5.6/10, which is respectable for a junior racket, allowing for reasonable ball placement. As expected for a racket in this category, power and spin are not its main focus; we rated its power at 3.6/10 and spin at 3.5/10. Its 38mm frame profile, combined with carbon fiber and fiberglass in the frame, provides a degree of stability suitable for its intended user. This racket is a solid choice for young players taking their first steps in padel, prioritizing control and comfort over raw power. If you have experience playing with the Maxima Junior, we invite you to share your thoughts in the comments below.
Manufacturer's Description
Varlion padel racket recommended for children between 7 and 11 years old. It has a rounded teardrop shape for easy control. In its design, one of the main characteristics of the Summum range rackets (the highest range in the collection) has been applied: a longer handle to facilitate driving or backhand strokes with the little ones with both hands. In turn, it has been manufactured with a Hexagon frame to make it more rigid and resistant. It is manufactured using a bidirectional tubular of glass and carbon, reinforcing the heart with fiberglass. Its core is 38mm Eva Flexcore laminated with plain fiberglass fabric and impregnated in Varlion's exclusive VAR-FLEX epoxy resin for maximum elasticity and resistance, and covered by a layer of titanium dioxide. And finally, it is worth highlighting the Handlesafety technology, a new safety system for the handle. Normally, in all rackets the rope comes out from a centered hole which is attached to the handle frame by means of a pin, rivets, nails, etc. However, with this system, the rope goes through the two walls of the handle and comes out on both sides of the tip, thus giving 100% safety and comfort to the grip.
