Bestpadel Review
The Maxima Summum Prisma Radio W is a competition-level teardrop racket from Varlion designed for all-rounder players seeking a balance of control and power. We found its hard 17K carbon fiber surface and hard EVA core provide a firm feel on impact, which contributes to its precise ball output. In our testing, we observed good performance across various shot types; we rated its power at 7.5/10 and its control at 7.6/10, indicating a well-rounded profile for advanced play. The textured surface also helps with grip on the ball, earning it a spin score of 7.8/10. With its low balance and 38mm carbon fiber frame, this model offers maneuverability despite its firm construction. We attributed its difficulty rating at 7.1/10, suggesting it is best suited for experienced players comfortable with a stiffer racket. The "W" designation for the core material indicates it is optimized for cooler temperatures, which is a consideration for players in varying climates. While its durability scores well at 7.8/10, we rated its value for money at 4.6/10, reflecting its premium price point. We invite any players who have used this racket to share their thoughts and experiences in the comments below.
Manufacturer's Description
Maxima is a model that was born in 2020 from the fusion between the LW (rounded shape created in 1995) and the Avant (teardrop shape created in 2009). As a result, we achieved a rounded teardrop-shaped racket, designed for players who seek control in their game without losing power. One of the most important novelties of this model is Radio technology, which implies a revolution in the manufacture, resistance and performance of padel rackets. With it we have managed to produce the first racket that comes out of its own mold already drilled. This is possible thanks to 2 factors: first, the development of a new mold that includes the outward relief of the holes; and second, the materials are pre-drilled and trimmed before being introduced into it. Thanks to this, the racket comes out with the holes already made and with a smooth and rounded radius. The technical result is a significant increase in the resistant of the core and a 50% reduction in the use of fabrics. The other novelty of this model is the Airfow technology, focused on giving fluidity to the air passage through the racket thanks to some elongated holes located between the frame and the core. As in the rest of the holes, Radio technology has also been used in these ones. This professional-level racket has the Prisma frame, with which we manage to reduce the contact point of the frame against walls and surfaces by 90%, as well as 10% air resistance. All this means better maneuverability of the racket and greater acceleration capacity on hits. On the other hand, we have reinforced its most fragile point (the head) with an adhesive bumper that adapts perfectly to its shape, the Prisma bumper. This not only covers the frame, but also its connection with the plane of the racket. In addition, to eliminate the influence of temperature on racket’s materials, this model has been manufactured with two types of rubber: a softer one, called ""W"", recommended to be used at low temperatures or up to 25ºC / 77ºFF; and a harder one, called ""S"", recommended to be used at temperatures above 25ºC / 77ºF. For this reason, we recommend to carry both rackets in the bag so that the player uses one model or another, depending on the ambient temperature. When it comes to applying effects to the hits, it presents a rough texture in the plane called Slice, which has been designed and developed with a series of curved lines that make the ball to stick more. As its name suggests, the Maxima Summum Prisma includes Summum technology in its construction, which is based on the sum of several factors: A longer grip than usual to provide the player with a more comfortable and professional grip, and also to make it easier for those who use both hands on backhand shots. A 1 cm longer striking surface. And the Wings Diffuser technology in the heart, with an aerodynamically improved diffuser, which provides more maneuverability and precision. And finally, it is worth highlighting the Handlesafety technology, a new safety system for the handle. Normally, in all rackets the rope comes out from a centered hole which is attached to the handle frame by means of a pin, rivets, nails, etc. However, with this system, the rope goes through the two walls of the handle and comes out on both sides of the tip, thus giving 100% safety and comfort to the grip.
