The Varlion LW Hexagon 8.8 Violet, designed for beginner players, offers a comfortable feel on court. Its round shape and low balance, typical of control-oriented rackets, make it quite maneuverable. We found that the combination of a carbon fiber and fiberglass frame, along with a fiberglass surface and medium firmness EVA Hypersoft core, provides a soft sensation upon impact. This setup is generally forgiving for those still developing their strokes. In our testing, we observed that it prioritizes control, which we rate at 7.1/10, over raw power, where it scores 5.2/10. Weighing between 340 and 365 grams with a 38mm profile, this racket feels quite accessible. The smooth surface, while comfortable, means that spin generation is not its primary strength; we attributed it a 4/10 for spin. For new players, the low difficulty rating of 4.3/10 is a definite advantage, allowing for easier adaptation and consistent ball striking. As an all-rounder, it provides a balanced starting point without specializing too heavily in any one area. Considering its performance for a beginner-level racket, we rate its value for money at 6.6/10. If you've had the chance to play with the LW Hexagon 8.8 Violet, we'd appreciate hearing your thoughts on its performance.
Manufacturer's Description
Varlion mid-level padel racket with a round shape, which favors control over power. Ideal for players who like soft rackets. It is made of a bi-directional tubular of fiberglass and carbon, reinforced by plain carbon fiber fabric at the heart. Its core is made of 38mm Eva Hypersoft medium hardness and is laminated with 3 layers of plain fiberglass fabric, impregnated in Varlion's exclusive VAR-FLEX epoxy resin for maximum elasticity and resistance, and covered by a layer of dioxide titanium. Thanks to Aerodynamic Drilling, turbulence is reduced, offering greater resistance in the core and greater stability during hitting cause the centre of the racket flexes less. This generates an increase in the sweet spot of the racket. Designed with Hexagon frame to make it more resistant and rigid. And finally, it is worth highlighting the Handlesafety technology, a new safety system for the handle. Normally, in all rackets the rope comes out from a centered hole which is attached to the handle frame by means of a pin, rivets, nails, etc. However, with this system, the rope goes through the two walls of the handle and comes out on both sides of the tip, thus giving 100% safety and comfort to the grip.
